UPDATE – March 2021: The Town of The Blue Mountains has scheduled a Virtual Public Open House for March 24, 2021, to obtain public input on how trees should be protected in the Town. This is a joint Virtual Open House with the County of Grey, as the County is also considering updates to the current County Forest Management By-law 4341-06.
The intent of the Virtual Open House is to provide the public with information regarding the existing regulations on tree cutting and forestry management in the Municipality. Town and County Staff will gather public input and comment received at the Public Open House which will help to guide the scope and direction of any future changes to each respective By-law. More information, including a public survey, will be posted to this project page for public review approximately one week in advance of the Virtual Public Open House. Questions and comments are encouraged to be submitted in advance so that additional information, as may be required, can be provided at the Virtual Public Open House. Please refer to the Notice of Public Open House for information about how to pre-register to attend the Open House and/or to submit questions and comments.

The Council of The Town of The Blue Mountains is considering updates to the current Municipal Tree Preservation By-law 2010-68. The intent of the changes is to consider extending the scope of the existing By-law to include a wider variety of trees within the Municipality, potentially including those located on private property.

UPDATE -December 2020: The Town of The Blue Mountains and the County of Grey are currently exploring dates in early 2021 to hold a “Virtual” public open house. Information regarding the proposed By-law revisions will be made available to the public on the Town’s website in advance of the Open House to provide an opportunity for members of the public to review the proposed changes and prepare any questions or concerns in advance of the Open House.
