Substandard Watermain Replacement

Project Status - Construction

Project Information

The Town of The Blue Mountains has identified thirteen sections of watermain that have been classified as substandard and require upgrade. Engineering Services have been completed and the intent of the Substandard Watermain Replacement Program is to begin Phase 1 construction in 2021 and begin Phase 2 construction in 2022. The project will have positive impacts on the municipality including:

  1. Improved Water Movement within the water piping system
  2. Improved Firewater Flow
  3. Increasing the water movement within the piping network, reducing the opportunity of stagnant water and increasing water quality
  4. Operational Savings through a reduction of monthly manual flushing of waterlines

Four areas have been identified by Town staff as part of Phase 1 for Construction in 2021. These areas are

  1. Wellington Street South in Thornbury between Louisa Street East and Arthur Street East
  2. Lansdowne Street North in Thornbury at Bay Street West
  3. Arthur Street East in Thornbury from McAuley Street South to Elgin Street South
  4. Napier Street East in Thornbury from Bruce Street South to Russell Street East

Watermain replacement was to be completed between Fraser Crescent and Blue Mountain Drive in 2021 but has been rescheduled to 2022.

Work is to commence no sooner than May 17, 2021 with work to be substantially completed by October 30, 2021 and all restoration finished no later than November 27, 2021.
