The Town's Waste Resource Web App is a tool that residents can use to confirm collection day and holiday collection information. It can also be used to determine what types of materials or waste are accepted curbside or at the Landfill Site.
For updates regarding Covid-19 and the Towns Landfill site please visit the Newsroom.
To report missed collection, contact the Operations Department. Please include the municipal address of the missed collection.

New Subdivision or Condo
If you are in a new subdivision or condominium development that is still under construction, municipal waste collection service may not have started. The development must get to a determined level of completion before municipal curbside or centralized collection will commence. Please contact the site developer to understand if they have provided temporary waste removal services. Full diversion service may not be available until the municipal service commences. You can use the depot disposal and diversion services available at The Blue Mountains Solid Waste Disposal Site during regular hours of operation, located at 788090 Grey Road 13.
Blue bins (recycling), grey bins (recycling), and green bins (organics) are available for purchase at Town Hall, 32 Mill Street Thornbury as well as at the Landfill Site.
To find out when your garbage, recycling and green bin collection day is, please put your home address into the Waste Resource Web App at the top of the page or check the Waste Collection Schedule Map.

Please note that the Town Landfill will only accept waste from Town of The Blue Mountains residents and/or individuals that own property in the Town of The Blue Mountains.
The landfill will be operating under the following schedule:
In addition, a number of new operational restrictions and safety measures have been implemented to ensure the safe and effective operation of the landfill. Please read the following items carefully:
Yard waste can be dropped off free of charge during hours of operation.
Bulky items can be delivered to the landfill site; fees may apply.
Deposit return containers may now be delivered to the landfill site during hours of operation. Sorted LCBO and Beer Store containers will be returned for deposit to benefit our local Beaver Valley Outreach programs.
Use of the Hazardous Waste Depot is free!
If you have a stationary curbside garbage box you need to use the Waste TAB indicator! These TABs are installed on your stationary curbside garbage box and are available for pick up at Town Hall (32 Mill Street Thornbury) or the Landfill Site.
TAB indicators are available for a cost of $2.00 each.
Stationary curbside garbage boxes can be purchased at many hardware stores. Ensure that prior to placing a stationary curbside garbage box within the Town Road Allowance that the location of the box will not interfere with Town maintenance activities. Follow the Garbage Bin Placement Process for box placement.
The Blue Mountains Waste Disposal Site is now accepting Styrofoam packaging material as part of a pilot program aimed at reducing waste in the Town. The pilot program is specific to a limited type of expanded polystyrene foam (type 6 plastic) or Styrofoam product packing. This type of foam is associated with the rigid white block foam used to protect products and equipment (such as electronics) during shipment and transport.
Please note: Styrofoam will not be collected as part of the curbside blue box program, but accepted foam materials are free to drop off with other Blue Box materials at the Waste Disposal Site. *Additional fees may apply to other waste items at the site.
The pilot program does not accept the following materials:
When dropping off accepted materials, please ensure the Styrofoam is clean and tape-free. The Styrofoam material collected will be stored at the Site to be densified by a recycling contractor and sent to a recycler to be made into new products such as picture frames. The pilot program is anticipated to run until the end of 2021, with the overall success of the program to be studied for an expanded implementation in 2022 following the pilot program’s conclusion.
In an effort to clearly identify and plan promotions and education efforts associated with waste diversion in the Town's waste diversion system, a Waste Diversion Communications Plan has been created.
The Plan outlines intended actions and annual monitoring of actions against tonnage of material collected.
