Property Standards

Our Property Standards By-law sets standards for maintenance and occupancy to properties within The Blue Mountains.  All property owners are required to repair and maintain their property in accordance with this by-law, including such conditions as:

• Yard conditions
• Parking areas, walks and driveways
• Accessory buildings, fences, and other structures, etc.

Every swimming pool, as defined by the Swimming Pool Fence By-law, must be completely enclosed by a gated fence; a Pool Fence Permit is required prior to the installation of a pool. Please refer to the By-law and the Swimming Pool Fence Permit Guide to ensure that submitted Pool Fence Permit Applications are compliant.

Other types of fences on private properties do not require a permit, but must comply with the Fence By-law regarding height, materials, etc.

Regulations regarding long grass and noxious weeds on residential properties within certain areas of the Town are specified in the Long Grass and Noxious Weeds By-law.
