PROJECT INFORMATION:
The Town has started construction on the Thornbury Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) Headworks Facility Upgrades. The scope of the work is the expansion to the existing inlet building to accommodate new processing equipment. The Headworks equipment that is being replaced was identified by Town staff as at the end of its useful life. The Headworks ensures grit, rags and detritus debris is removed before the treatment process. The wastewater treatment plant will continue to operate during the construction period.
Construction began in May of 2020 but due to the COVID-19 situation, the schedule was altered for a later completion date in 2021.
The project is now nearing completion with initial tests to begin the week of June 21st. Commissioning is poised to begin in early September.
