Community Centres

Beaver Valley Community Centre

The Beaver Valley Community Centre is a licensable venue that offers a large hall, small hall, bar service area, and a certified kitchen. The full facility has a maximum standing capacity of 430 people (366 for licensed events). This facility is directly connected to the Beaver Valley Arena, which can be combined to provide additional space for larger events.

Craigleith Community Centre

The Craigleith Community Centre is a historical building that was once used as a school house. This facility is only available for unlicensed events and has a maximum capacity of 30 people. Although the building is wheelchair accessible, the washroom facilities are not.

Ravenna Hall

The Ravenna Hall is a historical building that has been used as a community centre for the local area for many years. This facility is only available for unlicensed events and has a maximum standing capacity of 43 people. Both the facility entrance and the washrooms are wheelchair accessible. The facility is not on municipal water service and has a tendency to run out of water during the summer months.

Parks & Pavilions

Bayview

Bayview Park is one of the Town’s most popular picnic areas. With it’s beautiful waterfront, large covered pavilion and manicured green spaces this park is a perfect location for family reunions, outdoor weddings and other social gatherings. The park is also well suited for young children as it is equipped with washroom facilities and playground equipment. The park’s tennis courts and sand volleyball court also make this park ideal for active families.

Bruce Street

Although this park is not very large, it’s close proximity to the Georgian Trail, its picnic tables and ample shade makes it a perfect rest stop for cyclists and other trail users. This park is also close to the harbour and downtown shops in Thornbury.

Cedar Grove

This park is one of the Town’s hidden gems. Although it is close to Town Hall, Bayview Park and the Georgian Trail, it often goes unnoticed. This quiet park is home to the Cedar Grove Labyrinth which provides opportunities for stress relief, meditation and reflection. The park also has a small covered pavilion, picnic tables and public washrooms, making it a perfect destination for small family picnics.

This park lines the Beaver River and includes a portion of the Beaver River Trail. There is a covered pavilion at the south end of the park that is within walking distance from the downtown shops in Clarksburg. There are a number of fixed picnic tables throughout the treed park that have checkerboard tops. There is also a portable toilet onsite.

This park is extremely popular and well used in the summer time. It has a pebble beach waterfront that is in close proximity to the Thornbury pier and harbour. There are washroom facilities, picnic tables, a playground and treed green space. This park is also within walking distance to the downtown shops in Thornbury.

Lora Bay

This park is located in a quiet residential neighbourhood close to the Lora Bay Golf Course. It has a sand beach waterfront with spectacular views of the Georgian Bay shoreline. There is also a large open green space, picnic tables and washroom facilities.

Moreau

This park is one of the Town’s most well used parks. It is made up of three baseball diamonds, a skateboard park, a playground and an enclosed off leash dog park. There are portable toilets onsite and the park is located directly across the street from the Beaver Valley Community Centre and Arena.

Nipissing Ridge

This park provides the Craigleith area with excellent semi-private tennis court facilities. There are accessible washroom facilities onsite as well as open green space and connections to the Town’s trail network.

Northwinds Beach

This park is by far the most popular beach in the municipality. Its large sandy beach waterfront and onsite non-motorized watercraft rentals make it an excellent choice for active families. There is a playground and washroom facilities onsite as well as several picnic tables throughout the park. The park is within walking distance of the Craigleith Heritage Depot Museum and Craigleith Community Centre and only a short drive from Blue Mountain Resort.

Peasemarsh

This park has a large parking lot and is connected to the Peasemarsh Conservation Area. The park provides a sand pebble beach waterfront and beautiful views of Georgian Bay. There is a network of trails that run through the Conservation Area and opportunities for fishing both in the Indian Brook and Georgian Bay.

Ravenna

This community memorial park houses one of the Town’s cenotaphs and is the location where the Ravenna Remembrance Day Ceremonies are held each year. This park is also equipped with a playground, portable toilet and a small covered pavilion that was constructed by the Thornbury Clarksburg Rotary Club in 2017. The Ravenna Community Hall is located just east of this park.
